When a ship begins a charter, it is “delivered” to the Charterer. When the ship’s use has ended, it is “redelivered” to the shipowner. Instinctively, each party will wish to mention the quantity of bunkers and other consumables on board at that time, and potential conflicts may occur, especially if the “bunker clauses” do not define the price to be paid by each party for the bunkers on board.
To reduce the likelihood of a disagreement between the shipowner and the charterer, our surveyors will conduct on-hire surveys at delivery and off-hire surveys upon redelivery.
In addition to bunkers, our surveyors can inspect the ship’s working deck and cargo tanks upon delivery and redelivery if required by the shipowner/charterer.
